The Melbourne Area Federated Republican Women celebrate their 40th Anniversary in 2007 as a member club of the National Federation of Republican Women.

 

The club was originally called the Platinum Coast Republican Women’s Club Federated, but in 2003, the name was changed to more clearly identify the location of the club. With over 130 members, the organization is the largest Republican Club in Brevard County and the only Republican Women’s club which is a member of the National Federation of Republican Women.

 

Over the years, members have worked together supporting Republican candidates, educating members and the public on issues and being involved citizens in the community. In past years, the club sponsored candidate forums and Meet and Greet Events for Senate and Congressional candidates.

 

Members have sponsored student scholarships for young people and are regular supporters of the Viet Nam and All Veterans of Brevard Transitional Facility. Each month letters and packages are sent to military personnel stationed overseas. You will see club members participating each 4th of July in the Melbourne 4th of July Parade.

 

Barbara Davis, a Brevard County resident for the past eight years is the current President and is ably assisted by the Board which consists of Beth Young, Immediate Past President and Treasurer; Judy Rybikowsky, 1st Vice President; Maria Hernandez, 2nd Vice President; Deanna Reiter, 3rd Vice President; Marlene Frye, Recording Secretary, and Debbie Schofield, Corresponding Secretary.

MAFRW General Membership meetings are held on Wednesday mornings at 11:00 a.m., at Tuscany Grill, 7640 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, Florida 32940. To make luncheon reservations, please call 321-727-1212 and leave a message with the names and menu choices of everyone in your party. 	January 9th Meeting:   Our speaker will be from the James Madison Institute, a conservative organization based in Tallahassee, to discuss the ramifications of the  proposed  Hometown Democracy Amendment and the economic disaster which could occur if the amendment is passed.
	February Meeting: Guest speaker: Brevard County Sherriff Jack Parker
	March 5th Meeting: Small round table discussions on issues such as renewable energy, ideas for local governments to cut down costs, the high cost of "going green", the NAFTA Super Highway, criteria to use in selecting candidates, ideas for lowering homeowner's insurance, and others.
	April 2nd: New member reception at Tuscany Grill in Suntree/Viera, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guest speakers: Lisa Cullen, candidate for state tax collector, and Trudie Infantiti, candidate for County Commission District 3.
	May 7th: Guest speakers: Republican candidates for Florida House District 32 and 31.
	June 4th: Forum with the Republican candidates for Brevard County Supervisor of Elections.

	***IMPORTANT UPDATES!!*** Beginning with our August 6th meeting, the meeting location has been moved to Tuscany Grill in Suntree, 7640 N. Wickham Road. The surcharge for lunch is now $17.00.
